Roth

Passing away we tend to say in the East. Died they say in the West. One imagines that passing away might be a respite for one thinking in the ‘passing’ sense, at least in those brief minutes before the departure.

Philip Roth passed away. I hope it is a respite and journey into a better world for Roth. His words stay with me –

‘The fact remains that getting people right is not what living is all about anyway. It’s getting them wrong that is living, getting them wrong and wrong and wrong and then, on careful reconsideration, getting them wrong again.’
