Music and words from the region. When in Bhopal or Indore, invariably get reminded of Habib Tanvir and his gorgeous daughter Nageen. Then, this beautiful folk songs streams in, and like that bird Chaatak which pines for first drops of rain to quench its thirst, one pines for the words ‘Chola maati ke Ram’. Those profoundly real words are Gangaram Sakhet’s. Takes me back to the audio tapes of singers from this region, heard plenty in childhood.
