On why he writes, Siddhartha Mukherjee says,
Some of us write to bear witness. Some of us tell stories. Zadie Smith once said that the very reason she writes is so that she “might not sleepwalk through my entire life”. On some particularly grim days, I think that I write to induce sleepwalking.
For me, that ‘bearing witness’ has been a drive on some days when I try to write. On other days it is to probe oneself, on whats going on. What is it that the mind is thinking and channeling through the body as actions. It is therapeutic, lately.
