Milosz

Regret to have not visited Poland in 2016. If I do, it will be to see Krakaw through Milosz’s words, through his eyes and experience the countryside through his poetry. Neruda probably was harsh on his to call him ‘the man who ran away’. But he finally rests in Krakaw.

This morning, one of his simple yet deeply probing poem Encounter brings home the importance of wonder, over sorrow for what has passed.

H/T: Paul Holdengraber.
